HighOkay, so Hunters of Ozine was sort of inspired by a strange combination of TBS showing The Wizard of Oz over and over and over again and Sci-Fi showing Tin Man.
The other day, I was thinking, "Gosh, I should really stop playing World of Warcraft and work on my writing again." (Don't blame me. I'm finally geared for PvP and half-geared for PvE.)
So I start looking through my half-assed stories for something to finish, and I find something called Mad as a Hatter. I don't remember it, but I open it, and I get hit by greatness.
Apparently, about a year ago (according to when I created the document) probably around three in the morning I began writing an Alice in Wonderland-themed short story which consisted of a political-scandal plot set in a revolutionary steampunk kingdom with an eccentric tailor named Theophilus and the main character a shy young woman named Carrol. I was intrigued and decided to continue writing it.
The next day, mom tells me, "Oh honey, Andrew Lee Potts is going to be on something on Sci-Fi."
"orly?"
"yarly."
Then I see it's...it's...something called Alice.
As delighted as I am to see Mr. Potts become the Mad Hatter, I must now risk continuing to write Mad as a Hatter and look like a sick trend following puppy.
You know, none of you probably remember when I was writing Kevin, do you? That's because it never even got finished. It was about a killer pursued by demons and being forced to kill to satisfy his bloodlust attempting to live a normal life and win the affictions of the woman he loves (I even had a website and the story itself was copyrighted) when ALL OF A sudden they come out with Dexter. A show about a killer who kills to satisfy his bloodlust attempting to live a normal life. Right after I posted my story on the internet.
Seriously, I began looking into the creator's inspiration for the show because I thought they had ripped off Kevin, right down to the first-name-only title. I didn't find enough evidence to actually take any sort of legal action against them, but it discouraged me so much that the only remaining copy of Kevin is on the dead website.
Why, oh why, do all my short stories seem like ripoffs because I delay the finishing of them?
Oh well. Hurl your insults. By the time I finish Mad as a Hatter that Sci-Fi show Alice will probably be out and I'll be screwed.
I'll go curl into a corner now.
Oh, and my computer's in the shop so I won't be able to even look at my stories for about a week.
Also got the code for the Left 4 Dead 2 demo a while ago. Got to try it out a week before it gets released to the public. It's pretty badass.
